If you live in Nepal, and want to get high speed internet, what are your options and the speeds you can get. Luckily this year 2011 we have a lot of options. The main ones currently available are NTC adsl, Subisu cable, Wlink, Mercantile and now also Ncell.

I subscribed to NTC, Ncell, Wlink to run some tests and was very pleased with NTC and Ncell. Even during load shedding NTC’s internet was working, while Wlink would go down during load shedding.

Using Wlink, my speed was also close to advertised speed but the connection was not consistent. For eg- I was downloading a file of 100MB.. the connection broke several times forcing me to restart the download.

Also using NTC adsl with a 256 Kbps speed I was consistently able to get actual speeds of close to 256 kbps which is very surprising. I downloaded a 100mb file and it was slow but it completed.
